Hello, I’m Ben.
I’m a freelance developer based in London. I have a strong interest in understanding how to build things for humans (I don’t want to use the word ‘design’ because I don’t want you to think that I’m a graphic designer). I consider myself a craftsman. I am a skilled Objective-C programmer with great experience developing for iOS and Mac. I’m naturally curious (my Grandpa called me Fingers-Malone because I would always take things to pieces), so I’m always learning new things. I’m a self taught developer, which I’m very proud of.
In addition to being a computer geek I’m also a music geek and self taught guitarist. I’m not a great guitarist, but when I’m in the confines of my bed room I can strike some very authentic Rock-God poses. Someone described my music taste as “any band that’s split up, well past their best, or dead” – which is fairly accurate. My favourite gig was probably the Led Zeppelin reunion gig. I’m a huge Frank Zappa fan – it’s like normal music but better. Arf!
A side affect of my geekiness is that I spend a lot of time indoors away from the sun shine. I’m also allergic to garlic (and onions, spring onions, shallots and leeks). These facts combined have lead some people to erroneously conclude that I am a vampire.
